Although this is a lifestyle and fashion blog, it is important we don’t forget the cause driven work Harry and Meghan are doing. While they both seperately and together have had a lot of impact on various causes within their Archewell Foundation, today I am choosing to spotlight one in particular: The Ms Foundation and Woman of Vision Award.
Not only was her glam memorable (she wore a strapless sparkling gold jaquared cocktail dress with front slit by Johanna Ortiz), but what she said in her acceptance speech deeply resonated with me. “Substance matters”. Not only was her mother, Doria Ragland, subscribed to the magazine while it was in print, its in its pages she found something crucial to her formative years: Diversity. Both in people and in content.
Unlike other magazines geard towards women, Ms. offered a wide range of topics beyond home making and fashion. The first time I personally heard about them was due to their impactful Wonder Woman campaign (she had stopped fighting crime and was now working in an office!). In fact Diana Prince was the first coverstar. They helped transform the character into a feminist icon: symbolizing equliaty and sisterhood. The foundation deeply alligns with Meghan’s own values, making her a perfect recipiant for their prestigous award.
