Similar to a little black dress. A little white dress is a staple item. Both are crisp, clean neutral shades that can be paired with any color or style of accessories and not clash. Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, has worn one countless times since her ‘Suits’ days. Be it mini, maxi, gown, long sleeve, turtleneck, or with a hat. The color white has become a signature one for her, with good reason. Unlike black, which symbolizes power and authority, white symbolizes peace, renewal, rebirth, and serenity. It can also bring about feelings of calmness. Not only that, but its a great way to be in a neutral shade and not blend in with your surroundings.
The most famous and well-known white dresses she has worn are, of course, for her wedding and reception. The Givenchy and Stella McCartney gowns show both Meghan’s demure and sexy sides, respectively, and were both worn with all white accessories. The white dress is not just for her wedding or formal wear; however, she has worn it also for leisure wear, casual events, and cocktail/gala attire.
It is also not always necessary to wear only white accessories, as it pairs well with not only other neutrals but chromatic colors as well. One of my favorite looks she has worn is her bespoke Calvin Klein turtleneck mini dress, which she paired with an olive Ralph Lauren clutch and pumps whilst pregnant with Prince Archie for a screening of The Wider Earth.
Meghan also frequently wears black with her white duds for a high contrast look. Below are a few more events she has worn white to.
